MOUNT JACKSON, Va – Authorities in Mount Jackson have now determined that this past weekend’s shooting was a murder-suicide.

The incident happened shortly before three o’clock Sunday morning in the 200 block of Orkney Drive.

When law enforcement arrived, they found four individuals outside the home with apparent gunshot wounds.

Two of the individuals, 63-year-old Frederic Conrad and 51-year-old Jane Moomaw, died at the scene.

The remaining two victims, a 67-year-old woman from Mount Jackson and a 48-year-old man from Basye, are still being treated in the hospital for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

An investigation determined that Conrad approached Moomaw and others outside the home. An argument ensued and Conrad shot Moomaw and the other two. He then shot himself.
