Reports: Fire Crews Battle Blaze at Former Craigsville Concrete Plant

CRAIGSVILLE, Va. — Emergency crews responded this morning to reports of a large fire at the former Lehigh Portland Cement Factory in Craigsville.

According to the Augusta County Emergency Communications Center, dozens of units were dispatched to the site at Little River and Quarry roads around 4 a.m.

Photos posted online by onlookers shows the roof of the building engulfed in flames, with white smoke billowing into the early morning sky.

Officials say the incident is now closed, and a section of Route 684 near the scene that had been impassable has reopened to traffic.
