ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va – A stabbing incident early Sunday morning in Rockingham County sent an elderly man to the hospital and resulted in two teenagers being arrested.

Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson reports that deputies responded at around 2 am to a home on Rosedale Road.

An initial investigation showed that the owner of the home, 75-year-old Eddie McAvoy, was attacked with knives while he was sleeping.

McAvoy was taken to the hospital where he was treated for multiple serious injuries and eventually released.

Meanwhile, Hutcheson stated that a 15-year-old girl, who was the victim’s granddaughter, and a 16-year-old boy, who Hutcheson said identifies as a female, were arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated malicious wounding.

Both are being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Verona.
