STAUNTON VA: (Rocktown Now) – A child was discovered unresponsive this week in Staunton following a snow day incident on North Waverly Street.

Sergeant Christopher Ammons says officers responded to reports of an unresponsive 11-year-old shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

Despite efforts by first responders, the young boy was later pronounced deceased at Augusta Health.

While the specific cause of death is not expected to be released, Ammons confirms that the boy had reportedly been in a sledding accident earlier in the day.

A GoFundMe has been setup for the child’s family.
