LEXINGTON, Va. (BC Athletics) – Laura Narby scored in the sixth minute and Erinn Lockard made seven saves as the Bridgewater College women’s soccer team knocked off No. 2 Washington and Lee, 1-0, in its regular-season finale at Watt Field.

The Eagles handed the Generals their first ODAC loss since Oct. 21, 2023, snapping a 31-game conference unbeaten streak. The result also ended Washington and Lee’s 42-game home unbeaten streak dating to Nov. 4, 2022, and its 32-game overall unbeaten streak dating to Sept. 14, 2025.

Score: Bridgewater 1, No. 2 Washington and Lee 0
Records: Bridgewater 12-3-2 (7-1-2); Washington and Lee 13-1-2 (8-1-1)

How It Happened
• Bridgewater attacked immediately, with Kylie Denton sending a shot wide just 16 seconds into the match. The Eagles broke through at 5:17, when Lily Hewatt forced a save from Washington and Lee goalkeeper Kate McEnroe before Narby scored on the ensuing opportunity. Hewatt earned the assist as Narby’s 10th goal of the season gave Bridgewater an early advantage.
• Lockard turned away Aubrey Dunbar in the 11th minute before Narby threatened again at 11:37, forcing McEnroe to make another save. Washington and Lee then increased the pressure, but Lockard denied Megan Zimmerman, Amelia Manke and Liza Cathey in a stretch of just over two minutes to protect the lead.
• The Generals finished the first half with a 13-4 advantage in shots, but Bridgewater held firm. Lockard collected her fifth save of the half on Megan Zimmerman’s attempt at 39:09, helping the Eagles carry their 1-0 advantage into the break.
• Washington and Lee earned two corners in the opening two minutes of the second half and continued searching for an equalizer. Lockard delivered again, stopping Manke at 56:51 and Maren Brown at 57:49 to keep the Generals off the scoreboard.
• Bridgewater continued looking for a second goal as Narby sent an attempt wide in the 53rd minute. Sophia Phillips tested McEnroe with a shot toward the upper-right corner at 65:04, and Narby added another attempt in the 69th minute as the Eagles sought breathing room.
• The closing minutes brought sustained pressure from the hosts, who earned four corners after the 78-minute mark. Bridgewater weathered the late push, including attempts from Alex Van Arsdale and Elizabeth Perri in the 89th minute, to preserve the shutout and secure the upset.

Match Notes
• Narby led Bridgewater with four shots, including two on goal, and scored the game-winner. Hewatt supplied the assist, while Lockard played all 90 minutes and stopped each of Washington and Lee’s seven shots on target.
• Emily Burke paced the Generals with five shots. McEnroe finished with three saves.
• Washington and Lee held advantages of 26-7 in shots and 12-2 in corners, but Bridgewater’s defense kept the nationally ranked Generals scoreless and handed them their first defeat of the season.
