HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Harrisonburg Fire crews worked quickly Friday afternoon to put out an apartment fire in the southern end of the city.

Deputy Chief of operations Ben Zimmerman says the call came right at 3 p.m. and when crews arrived on West View Street, they found smoke showing from the back of the building.

“Crews were able to put a hose line up to the second floor apartment and were able to extinguish the fire,” Zimmerman explained.

Zimmerman added that it took firefighters about five or 10 minutes to get the fire under control, thus keeping damage to a minimum.

No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
