CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (EMU Athletics) – After more than a week off, the Royals were back in action on Tuesday, in a chilly and rainy matchup against Wilson College.

Both teams played strong defense in the first half, not allowing a goal on either side. In the third, it was a Phoenix goal that propelled Wilson to a tight 1-0 win over EMU.

Highlights
• Teresa Green came up big in the first quarter, racking up five saves to keep Wilson off the board. Shay Gough also notched a defensive save, her fourth of the season. EMU had a chance offensively when Jada Gibson fired a shot on cage, but it was turned away by the Phoenix keeper.
• In the second, the offenses slowed down, playing a lot at midfield. But Green continued to shine, grabbing two more saves to keep the shutout intact. Layla Cordova got deep in the Wilson zone in the 24th minute, but once again, the Royals shot was saved as the game was tied at zero at the half.
• Wilson broke through in the 39th minute when Kate Seymour took a pass from Ginnah Kendall and was able to get it past Green, putting the Phoenix ahead 1-0. Gibson gave EMU two more chances in the final minutes, both coming late after the clock had expired, but they came to no avail.
• Green added three more saves, in the fourth, as the rain continued to pour on both teams. Wilson’s defense, however, kept EMU off balance and the Royals weren’t able to put the tying goal on the board.
