GREENVILLE, S.C. (JMU Athletics) – A Jacob Amman single in the bottom of the 10th inning walked off James Madison baseball to give College of Charleston an 8-7 victory on Friday night at Fluor Field.

The Dukes fell to 3-5 and lost their third straight game to the Cougars in extra innings, who improved to 4-6.

Four Dukes recorded multiple hits in the form of senior Jack Guerrero (2-for-4, run scored), juniors Ike Schmidly (2-for-5, double, RBI) and Josiah Seguin (2-for-6) and freshman Cameron Aycock (2-for-2).

How It Happened
Third Inning
The Dukes struck first, as Aycock from second on an infield single from Seguin that also involved a throwing error.

CofC responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning on a bases-loaded walk and then scored two more on fielder’s choice and a throwing error to lead 3-1.

Fifth Inning
A sacrifice fly off the bat of junior Kyle Langley and a double from Schmidly added two runs to the JMU score to bring it within two.

Sixth Inning
The Dukes tied the game at five in the sixth, beginning with a leadoff single from Guerrero. Freshman Will Haacke connected on a double to put two in scoring position, setting up freshman Ryan Gocio to lace a single into left field to score both runners.

Seventh Inning
Freshman Keegan Haesler was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home a run and put the Dukes ahead, 8-7.

Eighth Inning
JMU extended its lead to two, as senior Wyatt Campbell connected on his 10th career home run to make the score 9-7.

The Cougars stopped the scoring run by getting a run back on a sacrifice fly.

Ninth Inning
Amman led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a double and came around to score on a Dylan Johnson single to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

10th Inning
A hit by pitch and a walk forced Payton Frehner into scoring position to allow Amman to drive him in for the winning run.

Game Notes
• JMU began the season 38-for-38 on stolen base attempts before getting caught stealing in the sixth inning.
• The Dukes’ pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts, the fifth time they’ve hit double digits this season.
