HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – For those who saw smoke rising on the eastern side of Harrisonburg on Monday, fire crews were in the area to put out a grass fire.

Harrisonburg Fire Chief Matt Tobia told Rocktown Now that the incident happened at around noon in the area of Superior Concrete on Country Club Road.

“We were dispatched for a reported structure fire, but when we arrived on location, we actually found a grass fire outside of the structure that had not communicated into the building,” Tobia said. “We were able to keep it from getting into the building and put the fire out with no injuries.”

According to Tobia, that the cause of the fire was a faulty extension cord outside of the building.
