State police name victim in fatal motorcycle crash

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia State Police released more information on Monday morning’s fatal motorcycle crash in Rockingham County.Sergeant Brent Coffey reports that the incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. along the 2000 block of Kratzer Road.

“A 2003 Honda motorcycle was traveling north on Kratzer Road at a high rate of speed when it attempted to pass another northbound vehicle,” Coffey said. “The Honda crossed a double solid yellow centerline, lost control, ran off the left side of the roadway, and collided with a utility pole.”

The rider of the Honda, Wilson Jacobo Encarnacion, 34, of Harrisonburg, died at the scene.

Coffey said he was wearing a helmet and the crash remains under investigation.
