Slight chance for a thunderstorm tonight, better chance Thursday

HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Today turns warmer and more humid as winds shift southerly, pushing highs into the upper 80s to near 90. Most of the day stays dry, though a stray shower can’t be ruled out. Overnight, humidity continues to rise with only a small chance of scattered showers. Thursday brings the main weather concern: a cold front and upper‑level disturbance approach, creating the potential for strong thunderstorms, mainly with damaging wind gusts. There’s still uncertainty about how widespread storms will be because cloud cover or morning showers could limit instability.

By Friday, the front slips south, keeping a chance of showers or a rumble of thunder around, but the severe threat is lower. The weekend brings a brief cool‑down, especially Saturday, with most moisture pushed south and only a slight chance of showers in southern areas. Sunday starts a warming trend as high pressure moves east. Early next week, heat builds back in — highs return to the 90s Monday and Tuesday — with only isolated pop‑up storms as strengthening ridging keeps most areas dry.
