VERONA VA (Rocktown Now) – A day after Michael Donovan and Richard Moore were convicted on six counts each of stealing over 400-thousand dollars of inheritance money, Augusta County authorities released the details surrounding Donovan’s arrest last week on a felony charge of forcible sodomy involving a child under the age of 13.

The charge stemmed from an investigation involving a victim who investigators alleged was subjected to sexual abuse over a period of several years.

Lieutenant Leslie Snyder says the sexual abuse of a child is one of the most serious crimes the department investigates.

“Our responsibility is to protect our children, thoroughly investigate these allegations, and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said Snyder. “I encourage anyone who has information about this case or other incidents of sexual abuse to come forward. Your information could be critical in protecting another child from becoming a victim”.

The 49-year-old Donovan is being held without a bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
